In the 1920s, Frank Lloyd Wright created, in collaboration with his associate Arato Endo, a set of furniture for the 'Jiyu Gakoen' (free spirit' girls' school, in Tokyo. His goal was to create a simple, harmonious space to accompany schoolgirls in their daily study. This painted wood table is from the Virginia Craftsmen company, founded in the 1920s by Walter Zirkle and specialized in the reproduction of famous artists' furniture. This rare table's particularity resides in the project's philanthropic quality, and also in its search for simplicity and functionality, principles which guided the entire production of the architect and designer.
