Description
George III mahogany serpentine chest, circa 1810, having a serpentine top centering a shell inlaid patera, above a conforming case with four graduated drawers each inlaid with stinging and fans, the stiles inlaid with ebony stringing and acorns, terminating to a scalloped skirt centering a shell patera and rising on French bracket feet. Provenance: From the Blakely Estate, Buford, Georgia. Approx: h. 35.5", w. 30", d. 19.5".
Condition
Old refinish, the top has a loss of edge stringing in 2-3 areas, not distracting, areas of lightening, (1) 3" bubble of veneer, the sides with tight age cracks, minor chips and scratches throughout, Structurally sound, presents well.
