Description

French, late 19th to early 20th century, provincial carved walnut Panetiere or bread cabinet in the Louis XV taste, having a serpentine frieze with finials and floral basket with grape vines, arched door decorated with tied wheat, turned spindles, apron with tied foliate trophy, and rising on scrolled feet with die, apparently unmarked. Approx. h. 42.5", w. 23.5", d. 15".

Condition

Chips and repairs to finials; evidence of previous worming (inactive); key is not present; stable dryness crack to back left leg, one spindle on the right side is extended up with exposed unfinished wood, frame is structurally sound.
