Description
Savu Hig'i Huri Wohèpi Man's Skirt Cloth/Wrap, Indonesia, Mid 20th C. Handspun cotton, warp ikat, twining. Very beautiful colors featuring a blue ground and repeat geometric pattern with elongated lozenge with branches divided by a line of plain weaving indicating that the weaver and wearer were of the Greater Blossom moiety. The open elongated lozenge motif combined with the cluster of white triangles (wopudi) indicate the cloth could also have been used as a man's shroud in East Savu. Size: 6'1'' x 3' (185 x 91 cm).
