Two Fine Contemporary Decoys on Driftwood
carved and painted wading birds, made in the manner of early working shorebird decoys.
31.25 x 35 x 10 in.
Shorebird hunting and the use of shorebird decoys was prevalent in the coastal regions prior to 1918 when it was outlawed. The fine pair was exhibited at the Decorative Arts exhibit at the Ackland Museum in Chapel Hill, NC in the 1980s.
