**First Time At Auction**
East Asia, China, Tang Dynasty, ca. 618 to 906 CE. A lovely pottery female tomb attendant with a characteristically elongated body donning a traditional floor-length robe - her hands clasped together beneath the billowing sash. Adding to the statue's aesthetic beauty is the desired sancai glaze technique - gracing the surfaces with lustrous glazes of spring green, marigold, black, and creamy beige hues. Size: 2.7" W x 10.4" H (6.9 cm x 26.4 cm)
Provenance: ex-Nancy and Dr. E.F. Simpson collection, Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired from 1970 to 2000

Condition
Restoration to base. Minor losses to top bun. Some stable hairline fissures along mold lines and to head. A few surface abrasions as shown. Otherwise, very nice with impressive remaining detail and great craquelure to glaze.
