Description
35 Documents from the Mid-1600s to Mid 1800s: Land Grants, Deeds, Indentures, Wills and Sales: A Beautifully Kept Collection. An impressive collection of legal documents, from Colonial America, through the Civil War and into the Industrial Revolution. A great many worthy of professional presentation and display. Several retain their wax seals, almost all in crisp condition and make for fascinating reading. Almost all are on vellum boasting exquisite calligraphy. Obviously most are from the Northeast, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Pennsylvania etc. with the few abroad from England. The earliest documents are from 1656, a marriage document in fine condition in exceptionally legible and a beautiful illuminated English document from 1727 having to do with "Recovery Suffered by Mr. Woodward & Wife". One of the more recent documents is from 1850 and is an exquisitely handwritten and easy to read, last will and testament.
Definitely worthy of in-person viewing if possible as there are fine pieces here.
Estimated Value $900 - 1,500.
