Description


PROVENANCE: From the collections of Dan Peters (1946 - Present), of South Atlanta-Georgia, private collector.A retired engineer and Christian School Administrator, has had the heart of a missionary to serve in many foreign countries aiding in building orphanages and hospitals in Russia, Romania, Ukraine, and other Asian countries. His present work is in Lima Peru. There he is using his talents to help develop safe drinking water and establish sanitary conditions inside the hospital. He is the parent to 16 children most of which are adopted from various countries. His worldwide travels have allowed him to enjoy the ability to collect treasures, some of his collection will be sold at auction to help raise funds for his ongoing work in Peru. The collections of Mr. Dan Peters are presented and offered up for auction.

EXTRAORDINARY, 18/19th C. Chinese Qing Dynasty Emperor Daoguang reign period (16 September 1782-26 February 1850) celadon glazed double ground bottle vase. Potted in a shape of double gourd resemblance, with two bulbous bellies conjoined together, suspending a tall cylindrical neck, bulbous lower section converging into a lemon-shaped lobbed midsection and finishing into a slender bottleneck at the top, gently rounded to narrow opening. Between double ground, the upper and lower body well carved with a dense design of overlapping petals, and that on the upper body. All reserved in the pale-turquoise-celadon underglaze ground. The green glaze creates a mottled effect around the rim which is likened unto the blushing of human pale white skin. The immaculate porcelain body covered with a characteristic silky glaze, amazing crackling effect throughout the underglaze which produces fantastic a smooth textured surface. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant finish that was applied by a meticulous glaze, the shape is uniformly proportioned. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be highly valued Chinese Guanyao porcelain Imperial wares, with the finest material, the attractive color produced, the glaze, the painting, and the shape. The glaze stopped slightly above the foot rim, revealed the pale-creme ground firing marks on the foot rim, while the receded central base remain under-glazed. The under-base bears a reign mark, six underglazed blue seal script characters reign mark, Made in The Years of Daoguang Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty (16 September 1782-26 February 1850).
