1738 Early Colonial Massachusetts Bay Original Land Deed
1738-Dated Early Colonial, Manuscript Document Land Deed Signed, "Samuel Leonard" as Justice of the Peace, Raynham, Bristol County, Massachusetts, Very Fine.
June 8, 1738-Dated very rare Colonial Massachusetts, Bristol County Land Deed measures approximately 7.5" x 12" on laid paper. Apparently this Deed grants land to John, David and Jonathan King each having signed this Document with an official red wax seal next to each signature at bottom right. This Deed is for three shares in a brand new township called "Ashnoolet" (an Indian name that was later changed) adjoining a township called "Earlington" (Arlington). The Handwritten Deed is signed and sealed by John, David and Jonathan King and is witnessed by Elijah Leonard and Benjamin King. Reverse is Signed by Samuel Leonard as Justice of the Peace, Raynham, with his docket and statement. There is a partial tear on the horizontal centerfold otherwise this 274 year old document is in great condition!
