Colonial American Handwritten Religious Poem with 21-Stanzas: giving Wives among the "Daughters of the People" to his servants...
c. 1770 Colonial America Period, 21-Stanza Manuscript Religious Poem, likely written for a Church Sermon, giving Wives among the "Daughters of the People" to his servants, Very Fine.
This 21-Stanza Manuscript Poem, no date, place or author, nicely Handwritten in deep rich brown ink on four pages of clean laid Colonial era paper measuring 6.25" x 7.75". Each page with numbered stanzas. The wording and meter of this Poem is definitely Religious in nature (at first, this cataloguer thought it was quoted from the Holy Bible). This Poem's protagonist is Benjamin the Lymnite "a dealer in many horses" and it appears to detail his actions in giving wives among the "Daughters of the People" to his servants. A very unusual, decidedly unique item, possibly written and presented for a Church sermon.
