Item Details
Description
Pennsylvania Currency
Five Shillings March 10, 1769 Pennsylvania Colonial Note
Pennsylvania. March 10, 1769. Five Shillings. Plate A. issued for the "Relief and Employment of the Poor in the City of Philadelphia" Issue. PCGS graded Fine-15.
Fr. PA-142. This scarce note has No negative comment at all on its conservatively graded PCGS holder as it has the appearance and eye appeal of Very Fine. Only 5,000 notes were printed. This note is well centered with full border designs present on both its face and back. All three signatures including Stephen Collins, James Penrose, and Luke Morris are clear and well written in brown ink. A nice opportunity to snag an under-graded very pleasing rare note for our astute collectors. The current 5th Edition (1990) Newman reference catalog has only a "dash" listed for value in Very Fine condition and aggressively also shows $1,500 in Fine.
