Early 1900s Vintage, United States Treasury Produced from Macerated Currency in the form of the United States Capitol Building, large size 2" Tall x 3" Long x 2.25" Wide, Original Printed Treasury Information Label Attached, Choice Extremely Fine.
Likely produced at the Treasury in the early 1900s, made in a pressed mold filled by redeemed, destroyed by being "macerated" using authentic U.S. Currency notes. This extremely rare Treasury "Souvenir" item measures 2" tall x 3" long x 2.25" wide and is very clean with excellent overall details. Its full original Government label reads, in full: "The 'Capitol' made of United States macerated paper money at Wash. D.C. Estimated $10,000." These items have remained popular with collectors as Currency related collectibles sold by the Treasury department. A rarer type that is lovely having a historical theme. An example that is attractive for display.
