Kuang is an American-Chinese figurative painter and printmaker. Best known for his contribution to the Yunnan Art School style. His calligraphic works, paintings and handcrafted serigraphs on paper, often featured a stylized woman surrounded by vibrant abstractions. His purposeful marriage of ancient art customs, masterful brush strokes and calligraphic lines, mixed with the starkness and beauty of modernism have made his works some of the most recognizable in the world. In 1969 he was commissioned to paint a mural in the Great Hall of the People, which was an extraordinary honor for any artist. He has held more than 100 exhibitions around the world.
