Description
East Asia, China, late Qing Dynasty to Republic Period, late 19th to early 20th century. A wonderful ensemble of sizeable brass figures representing the "Three Star Deities" including Good Fortune (Fu), Prosperity (Lu), and Longevity (Shou) - all dressed in "embroidered silk" robes. Fu-Lu-Shou is a collective term used to refer to a trio of stellar gods, deriving from their names: Fuxing - the star god for happiness, Luxing - a deity who brought about happiness through financial prosperity by way of promotions and higher salaries, and Shouxing - a god of longevity. They are hollow cast, but the interiors are infilled with pottery which adds weight and stability. Size of tallest figure (though all are about the same size): 4.125" L x 4.3" W x 11.5" H (10.5 cm x 10.9 cm x 29.2 cm)
