Jack L. Gray (Canadian, 1927-1981), Off the Gimlet
oil on canvas, signed and dated 1956 at lower right, inscribed on top stretcher bar, presented in an attractive mahogany frame with gilt filet.
Stretcher size 30 x 50 in.; Frame dimensions 38 1/4 x 58 1/4 in.
Jack Lorimer Gray studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and the École des Beaux-Arts in Montreal. He was an intrepid sailor and spent the majority of his life on yachts, schooners or boats along the coasts of Nova Scotia, Maine, New York and Florida.
