North Carolina Federal Inlaid Mahogany Serpentine Sideboard
attributed to Wilmington, circa 1800, mahogany veneer, poplar and white pine secondary, central upper bow-front drawer above two hinged bow-front cabinet doors flanked by two faux concave panels, flanked by distinctive beveled stiles extending to the central left and right beveled legs flanked by two concave hinged cabinet doors, the right cabinet with small fitted rear shelf, the whole raised on six tapered legs, doors and drawer with stylized inlaid herringbone edge, light wood line inlay to doors, drawer and stiles, each leg with inlaid lower cuff, inlaid escutcheon.

Condition
Original top reset and with light wear and scraping; central drawer with later drawer guides; pulls are old and in original holes; later hinges; tight shrinkage crack to left and right side panels; the four corner tapered legs are tipped below the cuff but appear old and possibly original given the color and patination, the center beveled legs have not been tipped.
