DANIEL LOUIS Jungle Painting, acrylic on canvas, inscribed signature to lower right reads Daniel Louis, subject shows a naive style depiction of tigers, a lion, an elephant, a giraffe, and a zebra in a colorful jungle. In frame measures approx 25 x 21 in., wood frame, surface wear to frame, professionally framed, not examined out of frame. Daniel Louis was born on October 20, 1955, in Port-au-Prince. His father made metal frames and his mother was a dressmaker. He had little education and he joined the navy where he remained for three years. Louis began to paint at 25, with no formal training other than some advice from his brother and a friend. He learned mostly from visiting galleries and museums.Daniel Louis is primarily a jungle painter, his paintings always abundant with lush vegetation, vibrantly colored animals and a misty atmosphere in the far perspective. Louis took part in collective exhibits in France, California and Miami, while large canvases of his work adorned the walls of a hospital in
