A pearlware armorial teapot and cover, dated 1803
The globular body enamelled on one side with the arms of the Cordwainers Company, supported by a leather worker holding a boot and a lady presenting a new shoe, the reverse with a floral cartouche inscribed 'Edward & Hannah Miller, Stockton, 1803', 13cm high (2)
Footnotes:
The Cordwainers were a Company of luxury leather workers, especially makers of shoes and gloves. The name comes from the Spanish city of Cordoba where fine leather was produced. The company's arms show three goats heads erased, while a further goat's head forms the crest.
