An engraved vase, Scottish or possibly Stourbridge, circa 1870
Of tall and slender 'U' shape with a silver-plated mount to the rim, finely engraved with Ganymede Abducted by the Eagle, the nude youth being carried away in the talons of the impressive bird representing the god Zeus in disguise, his drape billowing beneath him, on a later silver-plated foot, 20.4cm high

A ewer with a virtually identical depiction of Ganymede Abducted by the Eagle was sold by Sotheby's on 29 June 2004, lot 289.
