Description
Two Chinese lobed famille rose bowls with 6-character marks of Daoguang and of the period. Both bowls have scalloped edges. The smaller bowl features birds, butterflies, and flowers on the interior and exterior. The exterior has an additional register of petals with small flower designs. The interior has an additional roundel of peaches with a bat. The larger bowl has flowers on both the interior and exterior. The exterior has an additional register of petals with flower and lingzhi designs. The interior has an additional roundel with peaches and a bat.
Dimensions are: the larger bowl measures 2 1/2 inches tall X 6 5/8 inches in diameter, 6.4 cm X 16.8 cm. The smaller bowl measures 2 1/4 inches tall X 5 1/4 inches in diameter, 5.7 cm X 13.3 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Provenance: From Ms. Lynn in Northern California. The items were collected by her grandmother prior to the 1960s. Lots 16 to 18 are from the same collection.
Condition: The smaller bowl has one hairline to the rim. The larger bowl is in overall good condition.
