Untitled WWII Genre Scene
The genre scene of GIs hanging out in camp is signed lower left and the back side of the medium is painted with a number of sketches and studies by the artist.
Peter Deanna was a relatively prolific artist throughout the New Deal period, though not many of his works have appeared on the market yet. After the war, he took a job with the Smithsonian Institute as a visual information specialist where he also executed a number of murals over his decades there, in addition to the mural he painted in the Belmont, North Carolina in 1940.
Board measures 16 x 19.75 with a framed size of 20.25 x 24.25 inches.
