A composition made of tree pieces exhibiting gnarls and lines developed from natural exposure to nature, 8 in. tall X 5 in. wide at base, warm brown patina, signed on base and with exhibition identification label from "Museum of New Mexico Art Gallery, 39th Annual Exhibition".Ina Sizer Cassidy was an American writer, sculptor, suffragist, and teacher. She was born in 1869 in Bent County, Colorado on the Sizer Ranch along the Purgatoire River. She was educated in Las Animas and Pueblo public schools and by private teachers. She had no formal training in the arts, but while working in Denver, she met the artist Gerald Cassidy and their mutual interests in painting and art led to their eventual marriage, After their marriage they move to Santa Fe where Ina became involved with numerous cultural institutions. She was director of the NM Federal Writer's Project from 1935-1939, and was writer of a popular monthly column in the New Mexico Magazine called "Art and Artists". She exhibited her sculpture in numerous NM exhibitions from 1928-1954. She died at age 96 in 1965.
