Description
A BLUE AND WHITE MOONFLASK VASE, 1900s
China, late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) to Republic period (1912-1949). Finely potted with a broad, gently compressed, rounded body rising to a waisted neck, the neck flanked by a pair of zoomorphic and reticulated handles, painted in underglaze blue, each side decorated with two confronting four-clawed dragons in pursuit of the magical pearl. The sides with tendrils, and a key-fret border to the neck.
Provenance: German private collection.
Condition: Very good condition, a few glaze chips, and manufacturing irregularities, such as fritting and kiln grit.
