A LEAF-SHAPED MUGHAL-STYLE HARDSTONE TRAY
India, late 19th century. The body carved in the form of a leaf rising from an oval foot, the front incised and inset with metal, glass, and turquoise ornaments and beads. The translucent stone is of a pale green tone with cloudy inclusions and distinct white sparkle.

Condition: Good condition with minor wear, some nibbling to edges, the stone with natural fissures.
Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik Istvan Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. Istvan Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
