painted wood dial signed Silas Hoadly, (1786-1870), Plymouth, Connecticut, wooden works; hood with original fretwork and full brass capped columns; waist with brass capped quarter columns; 79"h; 84"h incl. steeple brass finial; base incl. ogee feet 18"w; 12"d, with weights and pendulum

In 1809 Hoadley formed a clock-making partnership in Plymouth, Connecticut with Eli Terry and Seth Thomas as Terry, Thomas & Hoadley. The partners gradually withdrew to create their own firms – Terry in 1810, Thomas in 1814 – leaving Silas Hoadley as sole owner. He continued to make clocks until 1849.
