Description

Rare Confederate Read & Watson Percussion Rifle. Serial no. 719, .54 caliber, 33-inch octagonal to round barrel with fixed front and rear sights. Bronze breech. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. Three barrel bands. Sling swivels. Metal ramrod and buttplate. According to Flayderman's Guide (10-025), only a total estimate of 900 manufactured. Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with scattered areas of handling wear and patches of pitting. Bruises, scuffs and dings present to wood. L.W. carved to right side of stock.
