Description
Twenty-four (24) piece set of Ott & Brewer American Belleek, consisting of hand-painted polychrome and parcel-gilt porcelain teacups and saucers with embossed designs and pastel pink or yellow accent glazes, including twelve (12) cups with pink or yellow glazed interiors, 10 with floral sprays and 2 with landscape scene depicting a crane along the bank of a body of water; and twelve (12) matching saucers. All items stamped with Ott & Brewer Belleek maker's mark and inscribed "Mrs. W. H. Cutter 1883" in blue to underside. Teacups: 3" H x 3 3/8" W x 2 7/8" D. Saucers: 5 3/8" dia. Included in this lot is the original wooden, red satin-lined, fitted case; a panoramic photograph of Hampton Cutter Clay Mines; and several newspaper clippings on the legacy and death of the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Cutter and inheritor of Hampton Cutter Clay Mines, Hampton Cutter. Case: 5 5/8" H x 19 3/4" W x 19 3/4" D. American, circa 1883. Note: William Henry Cutter inherited the Hampton Cutter Clay Mines from his father, Hampton, who discovered kaolin (and later fine blue clay) on the Woodbridge, New Jersey family farm in 1845. Hampton Cutter Clay supplied numerous national and international industries with their raw materials including Ott & Brewer of Trenton, NJ, the first American pottery to manufacture Belleek porcelain in 1882. This specially made set was a wedding gift for Sarah Romaine upon her 1883 marriage to William Henry Cutter.

Condition
All items in overall very good condition with minute scattered surface scratches, largest measuring 3/8" L. Case with minor fraying of satin lining, scattered splitting to wood, and scattered wear/losses to surface.
