A Victorian sterling silver ‘aesthetic movement’ three-piece tea service, London 1883 by William and George Sissons

Comprising a teapot, a milk jug and a sugar bowl. Each of compressed circular form upon collet feet. The teapot with a tubular spout opposite a cast shaped foliate handle fitted with ivory insulators leading to a slightly domed lid surmounted by a detachable ivory knop finial. The bodies with engraved decoration stylised flowers within flowerpots, some within tessellated squares, all reserved with a textured ground. Otherwise with herringbone, quatrefoil and stylised leaf borders. Each with a vacant cartouche to each side. The milk and sugar with a gilt interior. Each fully marked, part-marked to the handle, lid, finial and retainign nut. (3)
