A Victorian Scottish sterling silver 'Burmese pattern' teapot, Edinburgh 1876 by Edwin Millidge and Sons
Of cylindrical form upon four paw feet with a hexagonal tapering spout opposite a shaped leaf capped handle fitted with ivory insulators. The domed hinged lid surmounted by a spherical finial. The body with chased and embossed decoration in the Burmese Shan States style, of vignettes infilled with various animals, deities and warriors, with a vacant central cartouche, all below a plain central band. Otherwise with a profuse network of ornate bands and trailing leaves. Fully marked underneath and part-marked to the lid.
