A George IV sterling silver salver, Sheffield 1824 by Robert Gainsford
Of shaped circular form with a shaped cavetto edge with a rocaille and shell rim, all upon three rocaille and C scroll bracket feet. The field with chased decoration of rocaille C scroll and flower heads, centred with an engraved impaled coat of arms with the motto below Je Tien Et Je Maintiendrai, with a crest of a dolphin naiant, pierced through the sides by two fishing-spears in saltier, tied together in a bowknot at the top. Fully marked to the reverse.
