Description
A George II sterling silver cream jug, London 1756 by W.? probably Walter Brind
of baluster form raised upon three cast shell feet with cabriole legs raised with harvest maiden junctions. The cast double C scroll handle surmounted by a figure of a crouching dog above a section of chase foliage, leading onto a wavy rim. The body with embossed decoration chinoiserie rococo decoration of a Chinese man smoking a pipe before foliage and a pagoda type house to the other side, all hell within rocaille C scrolls, the front with an asymmetrical rocaille C scroll vacant cartouche. Fully marked underneath.

Weight – 146 grams / 4.69 ozt
This makers mark, likely Grimwade 3013, was probably registered 31st August 1751, the next mark being 11th Oct 1757.
