487 漢 白玉辟邪

白玉質，細密潤澤，大部分受沁呈褐色，深淺沁色仿若神獸斑斕毛皮，韻味古樸雅致。辟邪昂首前視，頭頂獨角，雙耳尖聳，濃眉大眼，張口露牙。身軀飽滿厚實，四肢粗壯強健，前腿生羽翼，翅羽平行，翅端為向上卷渦狀，陰刻短細線裝飾，層次感明顯。通體造形生動，辟邪身姿壓低，仿若蓄勢待發，靈動矯健姿態極為傳神。
漢代辟邪承襲於固有的巫覡文化與仙道信仰，以雄健剽悍的奇特形象及振翅通天的神異功能，成為護靈引魂及飛天成仙的最佳使者，深受漢代宮廷貴族青睞。咸陽市博物館庋藏西漢〈玉辟邪〉，造形與本品相似，可資參考。本件辟邪造形飽滿，肌肉圓潤，線條流暢富有力道，流露瑞獸威猛神秘氣韻。
