λ A SILVER AND ENAMEL BOWLJANE SHORT, LONDON 2009Enamelled and engraved with a band of purple clematis to a textured ground17cm (6 3/4in) diameter750g (24.1 oz)Accompanied by a hand drawn and painted preparation illustration, and a colour photocopy of an additional sketchJane Short studied jewellery at the Central School of Art and Design in London from 1972 to 1975. She then went on to study silversmithing at The Royal College of Art under the guidance of Gerald Benney and his master enamellers from Beenham House, Alan Evans and Robert Winter, who were visiting tutors at the RCA. Her works have been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout Britain and in Europe and North America. Jane's most famous commission was her enamel work on the Millenium Charger, commissioned by the Goldsmiths' Company to celebrate the Millenium.
