A SIGNED RED BARON PORTRAIT POST CARD SENT BY HIS FATHER.
RICHTHOFEN, MANFRED VON, 'THE RED BARON.' 1892-1918. Photographic portrait post card signed ('Fr. v Richthofen/Rittmeister') to lower front, with long holograph note in German from his father to Alexander Blümich regarding a memorial marching song, 137 x 85 mm (visible), gelatin silver print, postmarked '18.6.1918,' addressed with a handwritten note from von Richthofen's father, matted, matte sealed.

'With many thanks for the beautiful marching song 'The Red Fighter Pilot' dedicated to my son. We will be happy if you dedicate the song in memory of my son....'

RARE SIGNED POST CARD SENT BY ALFRED RICHTHOFEN JUST TWO MONTHS AFTER HIS SON'S DEATH. 'Der Rote Kampfflieger' (translated 'The Red Fighter Pilot') was also the name of von Richthofen's autobiography published in 1917 while he was still flying the dangerous raids which made his name.
