STAMPED "P", MAULDEN PERINE, BALTIMORE, MARYLAND DECORATED STONEWARE CAKE CROCK, salt-glazed, approximately half-gallon capacity, truncated cylindrical form with squared rim, applied tab handles, and incised ring above base. Brushed cobalt angled dropped flower and leaf decoration to each side, additional cobalt at handle terminals. The pottery of Maulden Perine & Co., Baltimore, MD. Circa 1850. 4" H, 8 1/4" D rim.
Literature: Parallels Kille - "Distinguishing Marks and Flowering Designs: Baltimore's Utilitarian Stoneware Industry", Ceramics in America 2005, p. 109, fig. 34 for a churn bearing identical decoration incised with the address of Perine's pottery.

Having an approximately 1 1/2" long flake to rim interior, a faint base hairline primarily visible to interior, and a moderate chip to one handle.
