HISTORICAL CURRIER & IVES "AN HEIR TO THE THRONE" ANTI-LINCOLN POLITICAL CARTOON PRINT, lithograph on paper, probably after Lois Maurer (German-American, 1832-1932), depicting Abraham Lincoln and Horace Greeley, flanking a racist depiction of a small African man and stating that he is the candidate for the Presidency, posed as an exhibit at the P.T. Barnum's American Museum in New York City, featuring "BARNUM'S / WHAT IS IT / NOW EXHIBITING" faintly in the background, titled below "AN HEIR TO THE THRONE, / OR THE NEXT REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE". Housed under glass in a modern frame. Circa 1860. 13 1/2" x 12 1/4" sight, 19" x 17 3/8" OA.
Condition
Good visual condition with overall toning and minor foxing, a tear to top center and a tear at the bottom left, some creases including a sizable one that goes diagonally from top to bottom, frame with minor wear and surface scratches, glass with a short scratch to left center. Not examined out of frame.
