Title: "Graft".
Medium: Crayon, marker, pen, and pencil drawing on paper.
Date: Composed 1984.
Dimensions: Overall size: 12 x 9 3/16 in. (305 x 233 mm).
Lot Note(s): Signed and dated in black marker, lower right. Drawn on light cream wove paper. Very good condition; several very minor tears, one very slightly into the image, right edge; some very minor fading, upper edge; else fine, and presents very well. Provenance: The work comes from the collection of Urbano Quinto and was acquired directly from Jean-Michel Basquiat in 1984 during a meeting at Basquiat’s studio located at 57 Great Jones Street, New York City. The noted Italian author, art dealer, and art collector Urbano Quinto met Jean-Michel Basquiat in 1984 at the Andy Warhol Factory at 33 Union Square West in New York City. Quinto acquired drawings from Basquiat, Keith Haring, and Andy Warhol, as well as other Pop and Graffiti artists, directly from their studios in the 1970’s – 80’s. A copy of the Letter of Authenticity by Mauro Urbano pertaining to this work accompanies the lot.
