A Sèvres écuelle, cover and stand (Écuelle 'ronde tournée' et plateau 'rond'), circa 1760-65
Of the third size, probably painted by Vielliard, with oval cartouches enclosing still life landscapes depicting a baby in a basket, a beehive, a portrait of mother and child, various pieces of ceramics and gardening implements, all in a rural setting, the gilt tooled cartouches linked by trailing gilt foliage, the écuelle with entwined branch handles and the cover with branch and berried finial, the stand: 19.4cm diam., the écuelle: 11.3cm high, incised 'o' to the écuelle and xv or xp to the stand (chip to stand) (3)

There is a 12mm narrow chip to the rim of the stand (partially visible in the catalogue illustration at 3 o'clock, just above the branch handle on the cover). There is a faint scratch to the glaze surface on one of the landscape panels on the stand (the top panel in the catalogue illustration, between the small bush in the centre middle distance and the tree to the right). There is some narrow, minor flaking to the edge of the gilt band around the well in the centre of the stand. There are a few typical small scratches and scuffs to the unpainted glaze surface in the centre of the stand (visible in raking light). There is a 7mm narrow chip to the inside edge of the flange of the cover. There is a miniscule speck of gilding lacking to one handle of the ecuelle.
Otherwise in good condition.
