Description
A lot of antique cast brass wares made in a lost wax technique. The lot includes an African figurine depicting a female figure in a Baule style, mounted on a rectangular shaped wooden stand; an Ashanti Region Akanza brass bowl adorned with a woven casting design. Unmarked. Circa: early 20th century. Lost wax process, also called cire perdue, method of metal casting in which a molten metal is poured into a mold that has been created by means of a wax model. Once the mold is made, the wax model is melted and drained away. Antique and Vintage African Figurines, Table Wares, Home Decor, and Collectibles.
