Description
An antique table lamp decorated with a Chinese Blanc de Chine figure of Guanyin, dating from the late 19th century. The goddess is dressed in flowing robes standing on a lotus base with a lotus flower in her hands. Blanc de Chine, or white from China, is the name given to white porcelains made in Dehua, a town in Fujian province along China's southeast coast. The special characteristic of Dehua porcelain is the very small amount of iron oxide in it, allowing it to be fired in an oxidizing atmosphere to a warm white or pale ivory color. Oriental Asian Feng Shui Decorative Porcelain Antiques And Collectibles.
