Description
LINDER MAX: (1883-1925) French actor, director and comedian of the silent film era, cited as the 'first international movie star'. A rare vintage signed and inscribed 7.5 x 9.5 photograph, the appealing image depicting Linder seated in a three-quarter length profile pose writing in a small notebook, his large silhouette projected on the immediate background. Photograph by Freulich. Signed by Linder in dark fountain pen ink to the image, his surname running across a darker area (although still reasonably legible) and dated August 1922 in his hand. Autographs of Linder are rare in any form as a result of his controversial death at the age of 41. Neatly mounted, otherwise VG
