STORCHIO ROSINA: (1876-1945) Italian Soprano. Storchio created roles in several operas by Puccini, Leoncavallo, Mascagni and Giordano including Mimi in Leoncavallo´s La Boheme (1897) and Cio-Cio San in Madama Butterfly (1904). A rare and excellent vintage signed and inscribed 7 x 11 cabinet card photograph of Storchio, the Varischi Artico & Co image from Milano showing the Italian soprano kneeling in a full-length pose, in costume as Cio Cio San in Puccini´s Madama Butterfly, the role she created. Signed in bold black fountain pen ink to the upper part of the image `All Egregio e gentilissimo amico prof. Caletti, cordialmente Rosina Storchio´, also dated to the lower part of the image in her hand, Venezia, 2nd of February 1908.
