c. 1993, an impressive example of a Nantucket oval lightship basket, the top mounted with an intricately carved plaque showing shells, horseshoe crab, sand dollar, starfish, clams etc. (6-1/2 x 4-1/2 in.); carved shell and pin closure, two contoured handles mounted with carved bone shells, an interior plaque engraved and painted with a ring of flowers and inscribed "Joan Ellen Black" a penny mounted to the interior, the bottom inscribed "Made By Michael Kane 1993 / The Basket Case / Nantucket Island"
