The electroplated tureen with deep, rounded bowl encircled by two horizontal bands and raised on three spike feet, with twin rod handles, the flat cover with turned knop. This iconic tureen, produced in several sizes, was manufactured by the Birmingham-based firm Hukin & Heath. The clean lines and focus on overall form perfectly embody the design aesthetic of Dresser's metalwork. Similar examples of model 2123 can be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Victoria & Albert Museum, London, and the Museum of Modern Art & Design, New York. In overall very good condition, with fine surface wear commensurate with age, use, and polishing. Two screws missing to one handle. The ivory handles replaced with turned wood.
