A Derby porcelain figure with a nodding head A Derby porcelain figure with a nodding head, c.1840, incised No. 22, 17.5cm high Literature: John Twitchett, 'Derby Porcelain 1748-1848', where this figure is illustrated on p.155 Peter Bradshaw, 'Derby Porcelain Figures 1750-1848', p. 189 'it is likely that nos. 22, 23 and 24 are three groups representing the 'Royal Family', adapted from Richard Earlom's engraving of Johann Zoffany's portrait. These are described in the 'Derby Sale Catalogue' of June 1773. Their present majoesties the king and queen, and royal family, in three grouped pieces in biscuit.
