Pre-Columbian, Peru, Nazca culture, ca. 200 BCE to 300 CE. A lovely textile of rectangular form resembling a checkerboard comprised of tightly woven camelid fiber in contrasting hues of red and black. The design features 28 squares of alternating colors arranged into 7 rows of 4 columns. A short, decorative fringe adorns the 2 shorter peripheries, adding a lovely variation of texture.
