A highly decorative American 19th century gilt patinated brass plant stand made for the Columbus Exposition at the 1893 Chicago Worlds Fair to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus landing in America, the later onyx marble top resting upon a foliate cast frieze decorated with masks of Columbus, terminating to foliate cast supports, the interior bearing stamped foundry marks N.B. & Co. Pat. June 13th 1893, measuring 32.5" h x 15.5" w x 15.5" d.
