Notes:
Built in 1886 in Glasgow by Duncan & Co., the Aguan was used for trade with Central America. There are two other known oils of the Aguan by Jacobsen-- one in the collection of the Mariner's Museum, Newport News, Virginia and the other in a private collection.

Under white light the surface of the canvas is dirty and there are some areas of craquelure that are unstable and some flaking along the bottom that will require conservation. The canvas is lined and under UV examination there is scattered minor in-paint to the sky and along the right edge from frame wear.
