George Benjamin Luks (American, 1867-1933). An original oil painting on board. A figural work with a central female figure. Painted in style of the American early 20th Century Ashcan School, of which the artist, who was considered in his lifetime the "bad boy" of American art, was a leading exponent. Accompanied by photocopy of June 1966 Boston Herald article concerning an exhibition of this work and others by the artist; and a 1966 photocopy of a published remembrance of the artist by American painter Margarett Williams Sargent McKean (1892-1978), a follower of Luks. Artist signature to lower left. Presented in an ornate gold leaf frame.
