Description

The large oil on canvas by John Christopher Miles (American, 1837-1911) is a panoramic view of Megunticook Lake at the base of the small Megunticook mountain range. Two people are being ferried across the lake to the small town at the base of the mountain. Unsigned. NOTE: The painting retains its original label on the reverse with title and artist full signature. Housed in its original gilt and gesso decorated liner. An extremely rare view by this listed artist. PROVENANCE: Originally from the Estate of Chad Richards, Camden, Maine. SIZE: Image: 20” x 40”. Overall: 24” x 44”. Condition: CONDITION: Good.
